Dr. Thomas Shippee., DATM, L.Ac. Licensed Acupuncturist
Dr. Tom is a Texas-licensed acupuncturist, Doctor of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (DAHM), and former U.S. Army Apache helicopter pilot who served his country for eight years. His professional journey reflects a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and helping others overcome challenges to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Dr. Tom earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in 2003 before pursuing advanced studies in East Asian medicine at Texas Health and Science University, where he graduated in 2019. He continued his education at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, completing advanced training in 2020. He remains committed to lifelong learning and regularly pursues additional specialty training to provide the highest quality care to his patients.
His clinical interests include pain management, injury recovery, sports injury rehabilitation, and holistic wellness. Dr. Tom has advanced training in cosmetic and facial acupuncture, completing specialized facial rejuvenation and enhancement training in 2025. He also earned certification in Korean Hand Therapy in 2026 and has completed specialty training in face reading, utilizing traditional Eastern assessment methods to better understand individual patterns of health and wellness.
Dr. Tom became an acupuncturist because he wanted to continue serving others by helping those who are suffering, especially individuals who have not found the relief they seek through conventional approaches alone. He believes patients deserve access to a variety of healthcare options and is passionate about providing safe, evidence-informed complementary care that supports the body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance.
His approach to treatment is individualized and patient-centered. He takes the time to listen, understand each person’s unique concerns, and develop treatment plans designed to improve quality of life, reduce pain, support recovery, and promote long-term wellness.
Whether helping someone recover from an injury, manage chronic pain, improve overall health, or pursue natural facial rejuvenation, Dr. Tom is dedicated to providing compassionate care in a welcoming and supportive environment
My Journey
Orion Acupuncture and Herbs began from a personal passion for a holistic, patient-centered approach to wellness. This inspired me to create a space where comprehensive care and compassion come together.
